They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took King. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want. Budda Baker gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Guyton in the 27th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Adonai Mitchell at pick No. 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Legette. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at slot 90, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and DeWayne Carter was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ben Sinnott at the 136th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It fills a real need, too.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylin Simpson at Round 5, Pick 11 is the proof. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They robbed the room for Kalen King here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
They barely believed it either: Brennan Jackson still on the board at the Round 6 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at slot 229 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
