The Patriots torched the value chart for JT Daniels, taking him 230 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
The Taylor steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Hit on Travis Hunter and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
Travis Hunter at Round 1, Pick 4 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Tyler Booker went about where he belonged in the 38th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A real head-scratcher, Jackson Slater in pick No. 68 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Demetrius Knight Jr. is a better player than the 69th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in slot 105, and they pounced on premier running back value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Mason Taylor at No. 145 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value said wait; Shilo Sanders in pick No. 198 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A big swing on Micah Morris at Round 6, Pick 35, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for JT Daniels. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Drew Kendall at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Bhayshul Tuten at pick 217 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
