The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Graham Barton, the No. 25 name on the board, in pick 50. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in slot 53: Chris Braswell for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy little value on Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in Round 4, Pick 20, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tykee Smith. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 171 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Luke McCaffrey at No. 172 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jared Wiley at the 210th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
