The Packers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Gray pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots. Landing Nubin that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Nubin slid further than he should have, and pick 41 is lovely value for the safety. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 25. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They liked Dominick Puni enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 88. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Bucky Irving in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cedric Gray at linebacker with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in No. 168 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
