The Cowboys bet big and early on Jasheen Davis, 145 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
Schwesinger at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a centerpiece for the ground game, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Somehow Walter Nolen was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 12, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A quiet steal in pick 76: Jalen Royals for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Luke Kandra at the 150th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Carson Schwesinger here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jasheen Davis at pick No. 172 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Oronde Gadsden II in Round 5, Pick 37 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Robert Spears-Jennings in slot 190 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Brandon Adams at the 211th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for KJ Jefferson. A need, and now a little less of one.
