It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jasheen Davis in the Round 6 slot, a good 127 spots before the room expected him. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Schwesinger. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th pick they get a centerpiece for the ground game, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
A tight end of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Alfred Collins at No. 76 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 150th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Jake Majors in Round 5, Pick 33 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Cooper at pick No. 172 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: Carson Schwesinger still on the board at pick No. 174. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Jasheen Davis at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Xavier Truss well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
KJ Jefferson in No. 249 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
