Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jasheen Davis at pick No. 174 is 186 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.

On value alone, Higgins makes the weekend a net positive. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
The board had Ashton Jeanty higher than slot 12, and the running back fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · Matthew Golden · WR · rank 43
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Matthew Golden in the Round 2 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Omarr Norman-Lott · DT · rank 74
By-the-book stuff, Omarr Norman-Lott at Round 3, Pick 12 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.22 · Pick 86 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 75
Tate Ratledge at the 86th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.11 · Pick 150 · Carson Schwesinger · LB · rank 87
Somehow Carson Schwesinger was still sitting there in the 150th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.31 · Pick 170 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 109
They barely believed it either: Lathan Ransom still on the board at pick 170. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.33 · Pick 172 · Xavier Scott · CB · rank 167
Xavier Scott in slot 172 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.35 · Pick 174 · Jasheen Davis · DL-EDGE · rank 360
Jasheen Davis at the 174th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.38 · Pick 177 · Oronde Gadsden II · TE · rank 142
Oronde Gadsden II in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.12 · Pick 190 · Jake Majors · C · rank 107
Jake Majors at No. 190 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.23 · Pick 201 · Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson · OT · rank 285
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.33 · Pick 211 · KJ Jefferson · QB · rank 348
A wild overpay on KJ Jefferson in pick 211, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.2 · Pick 220 · Jay Higgins · LB · rank 134
The board fumbled Jay Higgins all the way to the 220th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.31 · Pick 249 · Kaden Prather · WR · rank 269
Kaden Prather at pick No. 249 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
