Nobody else had Jasheen Davis anywhere near pick 190. The Cowboys did, by 170 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
That Stutsman pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Omarion Hampton slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Alfred Collins at the 76th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Danny Stutsman at the 150th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jackson Slater in Round 5, Pick 31, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A real head-scratcher, Quinn Carroll in pick No. 172 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tight end of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 35 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Jasheen Davis at slot 190 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Jaylen Reed still on the board at pick 211. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They reached into another round for KJ Jefferson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
