The Cowboys spent real capital to be 169 picks early on Jasheen Davis, and the board is going to hold them to it. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
On value alone, Bowman Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a featured back at a price that makes it sweeter.
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jalen Royals at Round 3, Pick 12 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Demetrius Knight Jr. at slot 150 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in the 170th pick with a little surplus value in Howard Cross III. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tyler Cooper at pick No. 172 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tosh Baker at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Jasheen Davis at slot 190, and the board is aghast. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Billy Bowman Jr. in the 211th pick, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They will replay Upton Stout at Round 7, Pick 31 for years; that is how good the value is. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
