The rest of the league will want that one back. Sebastian Castro tumbling to the Cowboys in the Round 5 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The cost of the Hemingway reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board fumbled Omarion Hampton all the way to slot 44, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Fair-plus on Deone Walker, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Barrett Carter still on the board at Round 5, Pick 11. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They jumped the gun on Connor Colby, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Sebastian Castro in pick 170 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They will replay Jake Majors at pick No. 173 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A big swing on Tonka Hemingway at No. 186, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Miles Frazier at pick No. 209, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Micah Morris well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
