Thirty-one other rooms let Chris Paul Jr. slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at pick 209. Highway robbery. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Mesidor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Zack Moss deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 17 they get a wrecking ball inside at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Circle this one: Omarion Hampton at Round 2, Pick 12 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a wide receiver like Emeka Egbuka reach pick 49 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taking Dylan Fairchild in the 76th pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Danny Stutsman all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Sebastian Castro at the 152nd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jake Majors at No. 168 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Jabbar Muhammad at pick No. 170 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Tonka Hemingway in pick 173 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Sonny Styles still on the board at the 186th overall pick. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Somehow Chris Paul Jr. was still sitting there in No. 209, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Akheem Mesidor in Round 7, Pick 31 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
