The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Jasheen Davis, 112 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
However the rest shakes out, Ransom at that price is a win they earned. Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a centerpiece for the ground game at a price that makes it sweeter.
A tidy little value on Jihaad Campbell in pick 44, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Tre Harris was still sitting there in pick No. 76, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Lathan Ransom at the 150th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They barely believed it either: Oronde Gadsden II still on the board at the 170th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Vernon Broughton at No. 172 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A safety of that caliber at slot 174 is the definition of value, full stop. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They will replay Jabbar Muhammad at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jack Kiser slid further than he should have, and the 211th overall pick is lovely value for the linebacker. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Jasheen Davis at the 249th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
