Dallas Cowboys

Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Cowboys.

Future B-

The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, 85 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

That Stutsman pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a bell-cow for the offense, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Derrick Harmon · DT · rank 30
Derrick Harmon at the 44th pick is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Jayden Higgins · WR · rank 71
Nothing to complain about; Jayden Higgins went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 84
Danny Stutsman in pick No. 148 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.14 · Pick 151 · Jake Majors · C · rank 95
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at slot 151 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Robert Spears-Jennings · S · rank 139
Robert Spears-Jennings at pick 168 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Oronde Gadsden II · TE · rank 135
You do not let a tight end like Oronde Gadsden II reach the 170th pick and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.36 · Pick 173 · Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson · OT · rank 258
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in pick No. 173, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 214
A real head-scratcher, Miles Frazier in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Nohl Williams · CB · rank 255
Nohl Williams at slot 209 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · Micah Morris · OG · rank 282
They reached a country mile for Micah Morris at pick 248, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
