Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys cashed the board's mistake on Taylor: B+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Mason Taylor, the No. 102 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 209. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

Moore has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Travis Hunter · CB · rank 1
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Luther Burden III · WR · rank 16
Steal is underselling it; Luther Burden III at Round 2, Pick 12 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 15
Omarion Hampton in pick 84 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.18 · Pick 119 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 13
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Nick Emmanwori in No. 119, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Rylie Mills · DL · rank 133
They let Rylie Mills come to them and pounced at pick No. 148. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Trey Moore · LB-EDGE · rank 262
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Moore well ahead of where he belonged. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 79
Barrett Carter at slot 170 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.36 · Pick 173 · Jake Majors · C · rank 96
They will replay Jake Majors at the 173rd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Trey Zuhn III · OT · rank 194
A reach on Trey Zuhn III in Round 6, Pick 11; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Mason Taylor · TE · rank 102
Mason Taylor in the 209th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · Upton Stout · S · rank 181
Upton Stout at slot 248 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
