Nobody had Barryn Sorrell this high, and it is not close. The Cowboys reached 103 spots to get him at Round 6, Pick 11.
Landing Schwesinger that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Josh Simmons in pick No. 44 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Kaleb Johnson in the 76th pick, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy bit of business in the 148th overall pick, where Shemar Turner graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Carson Schwesinger here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Willie Lampkin at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They will replay Malachi Moore at pick 173 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Barryn Sorrell in No. 186 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Oronde Gadsden II in the 209th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached a country mile for Aydan White at slot 248, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
