This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Tre Harris, the No. 50 name on the board, stolen at the Round 5 slot. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at a price that makes it sweeter.
They barely believed it either: Mason Graham still on the board at the Round 2 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Kaleb Johnson in No. 76 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tre Harris in the 150th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cody Simon at pick 170 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kurtis Rourke in the 172nd pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Mitchell Evans in pick No. 174 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Tommi Hill at slot 190 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
