It is the swing that defines the weekend: Barryn Sorrell in No. 148, a good 132 spots before the room expected him. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The Majors pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an every-down engine for the run game at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Tre Harris at No. 44 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 76 with a little surplus value in Deone Walker. The roster fit checks out.
Barryn Sorrell in the 148th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Somehow Jake Majors was still sitting there in pick 168, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Smael Mondon Jr. in slot 170 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nazir Stackhouse in slot 173 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Connor Colby in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: J.C. Davis in pick No. 209, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Hunter Wohler at the 248th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
