Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Billy Bowman Jr., the No. 109 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 209th pick. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They will need Vann to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
