Dallas Cowboys

A sensible, unshowy class lands the Cowboys a B+.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Cowboys spent pick No. 168 on Tyreak Sapp, a name most had 99 spots down the list.

Landing Ransom that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
A slide stopped in the Round 1 slot, with Ashton Jeanty worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 26
They barely believed it either: Tre Harris still on the board at the 53rd pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 61
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Alfred Collins at Round 3, Pick 12 is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
Somehow Tyler Booker was still sitting there in No. 84, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 99
You do not let a linebacker like Smael Mondon Jr. reach pick No. 148 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Tyreak Sapp · DE-EDGE · rank 267
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tyreak Sapp in the 168th overall pick, miles early. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Jaeden Roberts · OG · rank 155
A tidy bit of business in the 170th pick, where Jaeden Roberts graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.36 · Pick 173 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 102
Steal is underselling it; Lathan Ransom at pick No. 173 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Tommi Hill · CB · rank 120
Tommi Hill at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · KJ Jefferson · QB · rank 289
KJ Jefferson in slot 209 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.19 · Pick 235 · Ty Hamilton · DT · rank 202
Ty Hamilton at the 235th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · Elijah Arroyo · TE · rank 178
Circle this one: Elijah Arroyo at pick 248 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
