Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Lathan Ransom got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at No. 172.
Sorrell has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

In the 12th overall pick they get a bell-cow for the offense, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Tre Harris at slot 44 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Deone Walker at pick 76. It fills a real need, too.
Kobe King slipping to Round 5, Pick 11 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Logan Brown in the 170th pick, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Lathan Ransom here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jabbar Muhammad in pick No. 174, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: Kurtis Rourke still on the board at the Round 6 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Torricelli Simpkins III at the 211th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value said wait; Barryn Sorrell in pick No. 249 says they were not listening. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
