You could see the war room lean forward. Sebastian Castro at the Round 6 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
If Davis pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Ashton Jeanty slid further than he should have, and slot 12 is lovely value for the running back. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 44 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Rylie Mills is a better player than the 148th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Majors in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Danny Stutsman all the way to Round 5, Pick 33, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Willie Lampkin in pick 173. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Sebastian Castro in pick No. 186 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Jasheen Davis in No. 209 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Aydan White in pick 248, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
