They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jasheen Davis, 149 picks early at No. 168. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
On value alone, Schwesinger makes the weekend a net positive. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ashton Jeanty at pick 12 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Walter Nolen in the 44th pick, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Dylan Fairchild at pick No. 76 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tai Felton in slot 148 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Jasheen Davis at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Carson Schwesinger in No. 170 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Oronde Gadsden II was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 36, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Jaylen Reed here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached into another round for KJ Jefferson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
