There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cowboys started one anyway for Trey Moore, 98 picks ahead of schedule.
On value alone, Paul Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a featured back, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 2, Pick 12 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Walter Nolen reach pick 76 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tate Ratledge at pick No. 148 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They liked Dont'e Thornton Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 168. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Chris Paul Jr. in the 170th overall pick, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Moore in No. 173, miles early. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jaylen Reed in the 186th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for KJ Jefferson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Aydan White this early at the 248th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
