The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Omarr Norman-Lott, the No. 74 name on the board, sitting there at slot 116 like a gift left on the doorstep. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Bottom line, with Tetairoa McMillan leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 14 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 46 with a little surplus value in Kaleb Johnson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A conviction pick on Carson Schwesinger at Round 3, Pick 12 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled Omarr Norman-Lott all the way to the 116th pick, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Charles Grant still on the board at the Round 4 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Fair-plus on Jonah Monheim, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Circle this one: Kyle McCord at pick 152 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Dorian Strong at pick No. 170 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reach on Cobee Bryant in Round 5, Pick 33; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Elijah Roberts in pick 174 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Howard Cross III at the 190th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Damien Martinez in the 191st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jack Kiser at pick No. 211. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Cody Lindenberg at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Ja'Corey Brooks at slot 249 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
