You build a draft on nights like this. Jalon Walker had no business being available in the Round 3 slot, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They are betting Oladejo proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Ashton Jeanty in pick No. 44 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Circle this one: Jalon Walker at the Round 3 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Tommi Hill in slot 149, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nothing to complain about; Dorian Strong went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Ajani Cornelius at the 171st pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good price on Tyler Cooper in pick 174, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pat Bryant at No. 188 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached into another round for Oluwafemi Oladejo, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They robbed the room for CJ West here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
