When the story of this class is written, it opens with Jasheen Davis at the 247th pick, a reach of 97 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Landing Rourke that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Omarion Hampton at No. 44 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Carson Schwesinger went about where he belonged in slot 76. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Mello Dotson higher than pick No. 149, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Nohl Williams in the 170th overall pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
JJ Pegues in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Kurtis Rourke all the way to pick 174, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Miles Frazier well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Quinn Carroll. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A real head-scratcher, Jasheen Davis in pick No. 247 is miles ahead of his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
