The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Malachi Moore, the No. 104 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Tetairoa McMillan at the 12th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in slot 44, with Omarion Hampton worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 76 with a little surplus value in Maxwell Hairston. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cody Simon in pick No. 149 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a safety like Andrew Mukuba reach Round 5, Pick 33 and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
Kyle McCord in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Darius Alexander still on the board at pick 204. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Jake Majors all the way to the 211th pick, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Miles Frazier in pick 239 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Malachi Moore at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
