Thirty-one other rooms let Donovan Jackson slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at the 204th pick. Highway robbery.
Every board in the league had Davis lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a mismatch in the passing game. A real need, handled.
Kaleb Johnson at Round 2, Pick 12 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Tre Harris was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Carson Schwesinger at pick 149 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dorian Strong in the 171st overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Nohl Williams at the 174th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Donovan Jackson still on the board at No. 204. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board fumbled Jackson Slater all the way to slot 211, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Ty Hamilton in No. 239, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached a country mile for Jasheen Davis at the 247th overall pick, and the board is aghast. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
