There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cowboys started one anyway for Barryn Sorrell, 104 picks ahead of schedule.
However the rest shakes out, Thornton Jr. at that price is a win they earned. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th pick they get a three-down runner at a price that makes it sweeter.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at pick 45 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jayden Higgins slipping to the 76th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They jumped the gun on Jacob Parrish, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

Ajani Cornelius at pick 174 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: JJ Pegues at slot 204 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A wild overpay on Barryn Sorrell in the 211th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They will replay Jay Higgins at No. 239 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Dont'e Thornton Jr. all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
