Thirty-one other rooms let Mello Dotson slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at pick No. 172. Highway robbery.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Adding Grover Stewart by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Tetairoa McMillan and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kaleb Johnson in pick 44 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Omarr Norman-Lott in slot 76 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ajani Cornelius. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kobe King at No. 150 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a quarterback like Kurtis Rourke reach the 170th pick and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Mello Dotson in pick No. 172 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Mitchell Evans at Round 5, Pick 35 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A straight-up fair deal on Addison West at the 190th pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R.J. Mickens in the Round 6 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Ja'Corey Brooks slid further than he should have, and No. 234 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Jaylin Smith at par in pick 249, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
