The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Malachi Moore, the No. 94 name on the board, in No. 211. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The West reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Tyler Warren at Round 2, Pick 12 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wild overpay on Cam Skattebo in pick 76, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 150th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, CJ West well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Kobe King at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Charles Grant in No. 174 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Cooper still on the board at pick No. 190. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Malachi Moore in Round 6, Pick 33 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jordan Hancock in pick 249, plain and simple. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
