It is the swing that defines the weekend: Oluwafemi Oladejo in the 152nd pick, a good 84 spots before the room expected him.

That Alexander pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Matthew Golden · WR · rank 12
No edge and no loss on Matthew Golden in pick No. 12; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Dylan Sampson · RB · rank 63
They took Dylan Sampson at par in the 58th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Carson Schwesinger · LB · rank 83
Carson Schwesinger at pick 76 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Donovan Jackson · OT · rank 82
A reasonable price with a little left over, Donovan Jackson in slot 89. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.15 · Pick 116 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 98
Kevin Winston Jr. in the 116th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R4.26 · Pick 127 · Kyle McCord · QB · rank 119
A slide stopped in No. 127, with Kyle McCord worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.11 · Pick 150 · Terrance Ferguson · TE · rank 118
The board fumbled Terrance Ferguson all the way to the 150th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.13 · Pick 152 · Oluwafemi Oladejo · LB-EDGE · rank 236
A big swing on Oluwafemi Oladejo at slot 152, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.28 · Pick 167 · Darius Alexander · DT · rank 126
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Darius Alexander in Round 5, Pick 28, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
R5.31 · Pick 170 · Willie Lampkin · OG · rank 170
By-the-book stuff, Willie Lampkin at the 170th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.33 · Pick 172 · Ajani Cornelius · OT · rank 166
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 172 with a little surplus value in Ajani Cornelius. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.35 · Pick 174 · Jay Higgins · LB · rank 182
They paid a round early for Jay Higgins in No. 174, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.12 · Pick 190 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 164
Ollie Gordon II at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.33 · Pick 211 · Kyle Williams · WR · rank 197
Value with a capital V on Kyle Williams in pick 211, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.31 · Pick 249 · Quinn Carroll · OT · rank 272
This one needs a full-page explanation: Quinn Carroll in pick 249, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
