Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cowboys shredded theirs for Barryn Sorrell. He came off 101 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Wilson. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
Matthew Golden in the 12th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kaleb Johnson at slot 44 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Carson Schwesinger at Round 3, Pick 12 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jared Wilson in No. 150, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Oronde Gadsden II at pick 170 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kurtis Rourke in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No edge and no loss on JJ Pegues in Round 5, Pick 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cobee Bryant in pick 190 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Barryn Sorrell at the 211th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Hunter Wohler at No. 249 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
