Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Barryn Sorrell at the 211th pick is 101 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
The Bowman Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Tetairoa McMillan in No. 12, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kaleb Johnson in pick 44 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Carson Schwesinger at par in Round 3, Pick 12, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Hollin Pierce at slot 150 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid a round early for Oronde Gadsden II in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A safety of that caliber at the 172nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Nohl Williams at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing JJ Pegues in the 190th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Barryn Sorrell this early at pick No. 211. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No drama and no debate, Logan Parr went about where he belonged in Round 7, Pick 31. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
