Dallas Cowboys

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Cowboys.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cowboys shredded theirs for Jasheen Davis. He came off 147 spots early, and the room will hear about it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The Schwesinger value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ashton Jeanty at the Round 1 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Malaki Starks · S · rank 12
Malaki Starks in slot 44 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Xavier Restrepo · WR · rank 66
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Restrepo in the 76th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · JJ Pegues · DT · rank 186
They left a pile of value on the table to take JJ Pegues this early at the 148th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Jasheen Davis · DL-EDGE · rank 317
A wild overpay on Jasheen Davis in No. 170, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R5.36 · Pick 173 · Carson Schwesinger · LB · rank 87
Carson Schwesinger in pick 173 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.2 · Pick 177 · Jared Wilson · C · rank 108
They barely believed it either: Jared Wilson still on the board at the Round 6 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson · OT · rank 264
They reached a country mile for Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at slot 186, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Jake Briningstool · TE · rank 232
A big swing on Jake Briningstool at the 209th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.40 · Pick 215 · Jordan Hancock · S · rank 203
Jordan Hancock in No. 215 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · KJ Jefferson · QB · rank 305
KJ Jefferson in pick 248 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
