This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Dominic Zvada, the No. 95 name on the board, stolen at the 247th pick.
Reaching for Sapp left real value on the table behind him. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Tyler Warren in pick 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tyler Booker in the 61st pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Darien Porter at the 79th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a running back like TreVeyon Henderson reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Tez Johnson in pick No. 111 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jay Higgins at Round 4, Pick 36 is the proof. A minor itch, scratched.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyreak Sapp this early at slot 175. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Miles Frazier in No. 202 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to slot 203, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Thor Griffith at the 236th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Dominic Zvada at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
