The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Hadden has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Jayden Daniels at pick 2 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
In the 15th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Austin Booker at No. 67, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Cade Stover in the 78th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Khyree Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Johnny Wilson slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 3 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A premium they did not need to pay, Walter Rouse a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid a round early for Kamal Hadden in pick No. 152, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They went early on Michael Barrett in slot 222, and the value did not follow. A minor itch, scratched.
