The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Ryan Fitzgerald fell into Round 7, Pick 22. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
If Dellinger pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Adding Myles Garrett by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Alfred Collins at slot 61 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.

Taking Ryan Fitzgerald in Round 7, Pick 22 is close to grand larceny; a specialist that good had no business lasting this long. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They reached into another round for Garrett Dellinger, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
