You could see the war room lean forward. Matthew Golden at pick No. 44 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 2 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

In pick No. 12 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, and a steal at that.
Taking Matthew Golden in slot 44 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Alfred Collins in the 76th overall pick, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
