It is the swing that defines the weekend: Roman Hemby in No. 255, a good 100 spots before the room expected him. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The dealing was even money, start to finish.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Lee Hunter in Round 2, Pick 20. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Brian Parker II in the Round 3 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Taurean York. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Eli Raridon at pick 120 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ephesians Prysock at the 160th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Jadon Canady, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Joey Aguilar at the 236th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Roman Hemby in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
