Call it larceny. Isaiah Williams sat on the board until slot 244, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The Vidal pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get protection for the quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Zach Frazier in slot 56, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 87 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jordan Jefferson at the 174th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kimani Vidal in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached into another round for Sam Hartman, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Isaiah Williams was still sitting there in the 244th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
