The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Jennings pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Phillips falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Drake Maye in pick 3, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Keon Coleman at pick No. 34 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They liked Malachi Corley enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 68. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Blake Fisher went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dallin Holker. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Andru Phillips in the 182nd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid up for Jaden Crumedy at the 224th pick when waiting would have done the job. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
A reach on Donovan Jennings in Round 7, Pick 12; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
