Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Patriots spent pick 221 on Jowon Briggs, a name the board had a full 50 spots lower. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Simpson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The veteran additions, Jordan Love chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
