Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Holker pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye in pick 3 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let an offensive lineman like JC Latham reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Devontez Walker at pick No. 68 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Brandon Dorlus at slot 104 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Dallin Holker at the 136th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jha'Quan Jackson in the 182nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow M.J. Devonshire was still sitting there in No. 229, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
