After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Dixon at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Holker has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A real need, handled.
Value with a capital V on Graham Barton in the 34th pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kiran Amegadjie at Round 3, Pick 4 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Devontez Walker went about where he belonged in slot 69. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach on Dallin Holker in pick No. 137; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They will replay Johnny Dixon at No. 231 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
