Call it larceny. T.J. Sanders sat on the board until pick No. 186, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value.
They barely believed it either: Walter Nolen still on the board at slot 43. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Ashton Jeanty in the 74th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jahdae Barron at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Wyatt Milum at the 168th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Xavier Restrepo all the way to Round 5, Pick 32, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Jihaad Campbell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
T.J. Sanders at pick No. 186 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Quinshon Judkins was still sitting there in the 209th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
