You build a draft on nights like this. Elijah Jones had no business being available in slot 229, and the Patriots did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Spending an early pick on DT-EDGE with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
