The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jeffrey Bassa, the No. 118 name on the board, in pick No. 210. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The Badger reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, a steep price for the projection.
A slide stopped in No. 87, with Darien Porter worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Quinshon Judkins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Chris Paul Jr. at pick No. 171 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kalel Mullings in the 194th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in the 196th pick, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
