Start where it matters. The Patriots took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
However the rest shakes out, Washington at that price is a win they earned. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Brian Thomas Jr. at Round 2, Pick 2 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They let Kingsley Suamataia come to them and pounced at the 68th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Khyree Jackson all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They did well to land Ben Sinnott in pick No. 137, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A slide stopped in pick 180, with Walter Rouse worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaiah Williams at the 193rd pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 231 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
