The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jake Majors fell into the Round 5 slot. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The Griffith pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get a home-run threat at receiver, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on T.J. Sanders, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Omarion Hampton in Round 3, Pick 13 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Smael Mondon Jr. was still sitting there in No. 113, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Jake Majors at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Omarr Norman-Lott at the 170th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Danny Stutsman at pick No. 172 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Thor Griffith in the 188th pick, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Xavier Truss at No. 209, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
